Save The Tigers

Save The Tigers!

Would you recognize the beautiful coat of the prowling tiger if you saw one? You probably would now-but if the conditions are still the same, you wont be seeing their luscious coats anymore because they'll be extinct! If you haven't realized the White Tiger and the Sumatran Tiger are critically endangered. We need to help save the forests so the tigers can live in peace and we need to stop poaching them

APP, an industry that makes paper/toilet paper/paper towels, have cut down at least 5 million acres of Sumatran rain forest-and that's only one of the many facts I have for you. Statistics show that the Global Wildlife Trade Monitoring Network, or GWTMN, poaching for trade is responsible for over 78%of Sumatran Tiger deaths. This is a disgrace, treating animals poorly and then taking their lives just to make yourself look more fashionable. What have they ever done to you? Even though they only hunt deer, cattle and wild boar-their only predators are humans. There are probably less than 400 Sumatran Tigers left in the world, and I'd like that number to raise higher and higher! So please help the Sumatran Tigers.

                                                                Save the orangutans!

Do you know those shaggy reddish furry primates that swing through the tropical rain forests whilst eating juicy fruits? Orangutans are our lovable monkeys that are dying by the minute.

Orangutans are slow and steady creatures that move past life without a worry and have a good time! But there isn't much orangutans can enjoy thanks to us humans. We humans have upset the balance of nature and with that the wildlife has to pay for our doing. Orangutans population has gone down to 20,000 and 5,000 orangutans die each year! Which means within 10 years orangutans will be extinct if we don't act.

Excerpt From My Narrative

Ashleen-

Paragraph 4:

Shailene faked a smile, but behind it pain rocketed thru her chest like bullets in a warzone. She was drained, the pressure was on, harder than ever before. This week would be when the final team of Dauntless would be made. It was tough, it was risky, it was the detector of the worthy.

Paragraph 7:A few minutes passed when suddenly Ansel broke the silence. He looked up...

Shailene knew his coming announcement wasn't one he found easy to say. Through gritted teeth and tensed hands and a smile dominated by worry he muttered: “We can’t go back” His quiet words echoed in her mind immensely.  She began to sniffle. His muscular arms comforted her as she hugged him. It's okay, he smiled. But deep down they both knew that just like hers his heart was breaking.

Training so hard...exhausted...every day only five hours sleep and I've had enough.
It all started on my fifth birthday. From that day on i knew…I had a feeling
that I was gonna be an All Black.

I started playing rugby at the age of three and when i was about five years old I took rugby seriously and had dreams of becoming an All Black.
My biggest support was my parents I loved my dad because he always took me to rugby games. He also had dreams of becoming an All Black but fell short so he thought the closest thing to becoming an All Black was to be a fan and support me.My mum and dad were great support they would take me to all my games and even All Black games. You could say...I was obsessed with rugby.

Queens Birthday Weekend!

"Good afternoon Alana" says Mrs Sutherland. "Good afternoon Mrs Sutherland" I reply. Everyone starts to chatter about what they are going to do over the weekend. All I can hear is "wanna have a sleepover?", "I'm going away!" and "I'm just staying home." It's only lunchtime, but I get to go home early! Well actually not home home but my Dad's house... I'm staying there for the weekend. Of all the places I could have gone on a long weekend - WHY my Dads?

"Hey Mum?" I question. "Yeah honey?" my Mothers soft voice echoes round in my mind. "Why do I have to go to my Dad's?""You just do honey, OK?" my Mother lets out a small sigh."OK" i mummer back. I tilted the chair back and slowly drifted off to sleep.

I suddenly wake up and see and trucks bonnet right in front of us, FIFTEEN times our size... I scream ... my Mother started sprinting over to the car. They opened the door and tried to calm me down. "Hey kid" I see my Father standing there covered in oil. "Ready to go?" he questions with a big smile on his face. "Of course Dad" I shout at the top of my lungs. It echoes through the mountains.

Later that night, after Chinese for dinner (which was DELICIOUS!), I was in my room watching telly and realized how boring this was. So I started to clear out all my draws by 11:30pm I had FIVE whole bags of clothes I either didn't fit or didn't want.

"Wake up, hurry,WE'LL BE LATE!!!!!" I scream while running round the house with only one boot on. We were going to be late for soccer if we didn't hurry. We finally got to the grounds and couldn't find our field. After 20 minutes of searching we discovered the right field and started the game. We lost 5/0 to Ice Angels. Ugh!!!

That night we had Roast Pork with Roast Veges, Gravy and Apple Sauce! It was so yummy a great end to an awful day.

Queens birthday weekend by Ethan

On the Queens birthday... My Grandpas Brother and my Grandma died. I was really sad on Monday because I knew them so well, I will miss them lots.
On the bright side we went out to Takanini. We saw Grant (my uncle). We organised lunch at the Sugar Loaf . He got us flowers. we then got a new game at the Warehouse! After that we went home and played the new game. Then my uncle Bruce came over for the last shoot of the season. First we went to our pond. We came up really close to our fence and slowly walked towards the pond . Then we shot up! About 50 ducks flew out but they all flew out of range.
We then walked over to our river, we stayed there for awhile, two ducks flew right over us but we weren't ready so they flew over. Then we walked over to home and cleaned the guns to they were spotless. We had a sad and thrilling time this weekend. But can't wait for the next Queens birthday.

Queens Birthday Weekend By Taylor .M.

Queens Birthday Weekend.

I woke up, the clock beside my bed said 09:58, Sat 31st May. The small of the stove turning off filled the air of my bedroom. I slowly got out of bed and put on my dressing gown. My dad was making french toast and when he saw me coming he turned the stove back on. In ten minutes I was stuffed with french toast and orange juice.
